BASScare (Boroondara Aged Services Society) has been providing quality aged care services to the Boroondara area since 1956. BASScare operates a range of services including meals-on-wheels, residential care facilities, respite care and dementia-specific services – as well as planned activity groups at day centres.

The challenge

Before Lavazza, BASScare didn’t have a coffee solution in place. But when another coffee provider approached BASScare, the seed was planted.

BASScare are known for their high-quality care and whatever coffee solution was chosen, it needed to live up to residents’ expectations. 

Although resident satisfaction was priority number one, the solution also needed to make sure BASScare’s staff were also provided with a great cup of coffee.

The solution

Lavazza’s well-known name and reputation for premium coffee made them an obvious choice. But BASScare had a couple of other criteria their coffee solutions needed to meet.

BASScare hospitality manager Lokesh Mathlas says, “One of the biggest challenges for us is ensuring the AU/NZ standard is met by all our suppliers, including our coffee supplier.”

“This wasn’t an issue for Lavazza, which easily ticked our box for compliance.”

It wasn’t just about ticking boxes though, Lokesh explains that Lavazza’s people-first values aligned with BASScare’s own.

“With Lavazza, it’s not just about profit, it’s about helping people,” he says.

The Result

With the bean to cup and capsule solutions now in place, Lokesh says that resident and staff satisfaction is at an all-time high.

“Stakeholder satisfaction is very important to us, and it has increased since we’ve been with Lavazza,” explains Lokesh. 

On BASScare’s partnership with Lavazza, Lokesh is positive: “We have a great relationship with Lavazza. They respond quickly to any queries and are doing a great job. We’ve had no issues.”
